What Is Stage 1?

What is Restricting Performance?

  • Throttle Restriction - Throttle is restricted and has a lazy feel on tip-in riding along with loss of power in certain gears / RPM
  • Exhaust Valve / Intake flaps - Restricted to keep quieter, which results in power loss
  • RPM Limiter - The stock RPM limiter is set to 12,000 RPM and cuts the powerband off too soon
  • Fueling - The 2021 BMW S1000XR fueling is set rich from the factory and needs adjustment for maximum power.
  • Ignition is optimized for all fuels for maximum safe horsepower
  • Heat Management - The S1000XR feels hot and runs hot

What Do We Do To Fix These Issues?

  • Throttle Restriction - We remove the throttle restrictions across the board to give you the riding experience and power you wanted from the factory
  • Exhaust Valve - We still utilize the stock exhaust valve to give you maximum power but also open it up when you need to make peak power gains
  • RPM Limiter - We moved the limiter from the stock 12,000RPM to 12,500RPM to maximize your powerband
  • Fueling - We program the S1000R/XR to target a better AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) to make a little more power along with fixing drivability and idle issues

FANTASTIC UPGRADE

I just installed the BenTune stage 1 on my '24 S1000XR. I have about 5300 miles on it and was pretty happy with the stock performance but honestly couldn't resist the reviews and knowledge that the US version was severely restricted. Holy Mother of God! The bike is a completely different animal. The stock bike pulled ok in 3d after 4k rpms but really took off after 7K or so. (think slingshot) Now it just pulls like a Banshee from 4K and is hard for me to even use full throttle. The bike is so much faster in the mid range. I also kept the stock cat and muffler, but if I decide to put on an Akro, SC Project, or Arrow can, BT Moto said the wide band sensors will automatically adjust, no need for a new tune. So far, having the flapper open does the trick for me, sound wise. I did not get the rev limit increased and am not worried about the tune voiding my warranty. I am somewhat frugal and hesitated spending another 1K for this, but after experiencing the way the bike runs now, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. (had to get a cheap Windows laptop)

Sell It!!

“Sell It” is what you will be reading on the back of my shirt as I’m passing you. BT has transformed my regular 1000 XR and into an absolute gorilla. 🦍 And at the same time it can cruise along at the beach at low rpms/speed smoothly. The power is so linear now and shifting is even better than the almost perfect stock version. So if you decide not to tune your bmw and see me coming in your rear view, just move aside and watch the fire 🔥 shoot out of my Arrow pipe. I’ll light your cigar or blunt. (Depending on local laws)

WOW!!!

My 2023 S1000XR ran pretty well straight off the dealer's lot. A little clunky at low RPM's, but otherwise all seemed good. After I installed the Stage 1 tune (no other mods), it was like an entirely different bike! Instantly available power at almost any speed or rpm, lightning quick shifts (yes, somehow even faster and smoother than stock) and the bike was much happier to just putt along at low RPM's. I'd read a lot about a 'hole' in the powerband at midrange, but I really didn't understand what the big deal was. After my first good hard pull to redline in 2nd/3rd gear (with the Stage 1 tune) I got it. Accelerating over 3/4 throttle past 8,000 RPM - you'd better be hanging on. TIGHT! This thing is an absolute BEAST now, and I couldn't be happier - except now I want the velocity stacks, flapper delete and IAT kit...

2023 BMW S1000XR "M" pkg. w/NO mods, and 12k+ miles clocked. NO regrets.

The Stage 1+ ECU "flash tune" was a "noticeable" improvement to my XR, which has NO performance mods. I just did the flash a few hours ago, and omg!, I am impressed! So here's the "run down": 1) Purchased the Handheld Flasher device from the BT Moto website. I ain't gon' lie, it took 7 days to arrive. 2) The process imo, was straight forward, and I followed it to a "t". Once I uploaded my ECU "read" file, BTM had my "tuned" file back to me via email in less than 24hrs!(btw, thank you BTM for the quick response👍🏽). 3) I patiently read all the applicable resources & instructions for the handheld device, file transfers, and my XR, and proceeded to download the custom tune to the bikes' ECU. It didn't take long, and there were NO hiccups or unexpected issues during the "flash" process. The process went smooth! 4) I took my XR out for a quickie "test" ride and I could immediately hear, and FEEL the difference. I REALLY like that NOW, the pops & burbles from the stock Akra exhaust muffler are much more pronounced & entertaining🥰. The "flat spots", "walls", & "dips" during FULL acceleration that I noticed before, are gone! The bike pulls harder, more linear. Even the quick shifter (up & down), feels better than b4. I do rec. you do this "flash tune" if you are "on the fence" like I was. Obviously it's not a "cheap" enhancement. But honestly, I would def do this ECU "flash tune" from BT Moto again if I had to, without reservation.

This Tuner transformed my 2022 S1000XR

At 650 miles did first service at the dealer and removed the 9000rpm rev limiter. I was really disappointed on issues I was having, especially when the bike would just shut off during deceleration upon pulling the clutch in. Also off idle starts from first were horrible. Had to use so much throttle just to keep it from stalling. I was going to get rid of the bike with 1000 miles on it. Dealers were useless, and told me I didn’t know how to ride the bike😳. I spoke to Steven at bt Moto and he assured me he could tune the bike properly.You do have to have a PC, no Mac. The process was slightly advanced, but with Steven’s help, no problem. It took 2 different downloads to fix my bike, but let me tell you, idle is perfect,no shutdowns, off idle launch vastly improved, cooling fan comes on sooner and the exhaust system valve opens and makes a stock bike sound 10 times better. Not to mention we raised the redline to 12,500, although I find it hard to accelerate much past 11,000 shifting because this thing feels like it’s gonna pull my arms off.To say this tune transformed my bike is an understatement! Best 900 dollars I could have spent. I now love this machine and have to say that Steven was a pleasure to work with! Thanks to bt moto for making my bike the way it should be from BMW.
