WHAT'S INCLUDED IN STAGE 1? 

The new BMW K1600 got a refresh for 2022. Boasting a new ECU and widebands, along with the same great engine. But with a new bike comes new problems, and the K1600 is no exception. Based on customer complaints and our own, in-house testing, we have modified the following to make the new K1600 as it should have been from the factory.

  • Top speed limiter removed (we are the only tuner successfully removing this to date!)
  • More power over part and full throttle curve
  • Complete throttle de-restriction
  • Fueling adjustments at part and full load for maximum performance
  • FTCL (full-time closed loop) wideband based fueling integrated into tuning
  • Ignition advance
  • Torque tables
  • Throttle control and response enhanced
  • Cooler engine temps
  • Startup fix (no more high idle or misfire/stalling)
  • More exciting riding experience with mode functionality retained

HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH THIS WITH STAGE 1?

  • Extensive research and development has allowed us to make more power with this platform.  Not only are we making more power but we are also revising ECU tables to make the bike safer and more reliable for those long trips where having issues isn't an option.
  • We left no stone unturned in our Stage 1 development and spent hours, days, and months to perfect the product with endless R&D.
  • The air/fuel ratio has been carefully measured in testing with the other changes we've made optimizes your K1600 for peak performance and reliability. We utilize the factory equipped widebands to constantly monitor and change fueling as you ride. Any elevation, temp or atmospheric condition will be accounted for. Perfect for those long trips through the mountains and valley's. The fueling will stay perfect.
  • The K1600 has active ignition map.  The point to this is to ensure your bike runs at peak performance and reliability, even when bad fuel is present. Bad fuel would be defined as a fuel that has lower than advertised octane, old fuel that's been sitting in the bike that has now going bad, or a forgetful user that just pumped incorrect octane fuel at the gas station. With our extensive R&D process we've been able to optimize the ignition map to not only add more power to your K1600, but also make sure that if bad fuel is present, the motorcycle will still maintain its reliability.
  • With the changes in fueling and ignition, there is a noticeable difference in keeping the bike cooler and more consistent with power.
  • Torque limit tables in dynamic mode have all been raised to give you maximum performance.
  • Expect large increases in low-end and mid-range throttle response through 100% direct throttle opening in different riding mode.
  • After testing, we have mapping available for aftermarket exhaust systems along with the stock system.

WHY IS THIS THE BEST UPGRADE YOU CAN BUY?

The biggest complaints from owners revolved around the pitiful throttle response (especially off the line) and of course the terribly restrictive top speed limiter (GA especially which we found to be around 105MPH). First we baselined the motorcycle in 100% stock ECU form, the motorcycle we used for testing has around 8,000 miles and was well broken in. In stock configuration we found all the talk of poor throttle was spot on, we also found the bike hit the speed limiter in the top of 3rd gear, with 3 more gears to go — frustrating to say the least, especially on a bike of this nature. The power flattened out and the motor was very rich and under-timed.With or without custom mapping, we all know the BMW K1600 is a wonderful bike that's amazing for touring! We also know it isn’t perfect. Issues that we’ve verified ourselves and what customers have reported include the following:

  • Bad throttle response
  • Top speed limiter at 105 MPH (GA and others, NON GT)
  • Under-timed engine that may feel lazy when power is needed
  • Poor startup strategy that can cause stalling, high idle and popping

**All riding modes still work as designed and all will have the throttle improvements that we have implemented. Dynamic mode will still be what you want to use for maximum performance and power.**

(22-24) BMW K1600 STAGE 1+

This is my 4th BT Tune ((2011 BMW S1000rr, 2019 BMW K1600GT, 2024 BMW M1000RR, 2024 BMW K1600GT) the BT Tunes have made every one more enjoyable to ride, all installed without an issue and my support from BT has been very good. With this last one I uploaded my original file on a Saturday of Labor Day weekend and I had my modified file back in about an hour! Worth every penny I’ve spent on them IMO!

(22-24) BMW K1600 STAGE 1+

This is my third BT tune. 1st was for a Ducati V4S Streetfighter. 2nd was for a 2023 BMW M1000R and now this one for the K1600GT. As always, well worth the price! No more stalling off the line and the throttle actually feels like you don't have to twist it to max to get any power. You can actually blip the throttle now! Huge improvement in the mid range where needed most. Easy to install with no issues. Starts extremely easily with no high revs like stock. Now the bike feels like a powerful motorcycle instead of a heavy tourer. Even feels like it handles and shifts better because of the improved throttle response. BT...you guys are great!! This time I even ordered a T Shirt and even it is high quality. Many thanks!

Well worth it

Bought new 2023 K1600b and really didn't like the throttle. Coming from cable I thought that may be why but it was just how it was tuned from factory. Also seemed to fall off Power above 5-6k rpm. After this all throttle issues are gone, power is much improved across all rpms. It did take a bit of riding after the tune to notice everything, I'm guessing it's the bike relearning tables and adjusting fueling etc.
