Through extensive testing of both the factory Aprilia ECU and Aprilia Race ECU calibrations, we identified 22 separate power maps and limiters restricting the performance potential of the RSV4's already impressive 205HP engine.

Development included extensive in-person testing and datalogging in our closed dyno cell using 650ib's personal 2020 Aprilia RSV4 Factory 1100. After experiencing calibrations from multiple tuning providers, the bike was brought to BT Moto specifically for the development of a comprehensive performance calibration.

By carefully analyzing ignition timing, individual-cylinder fueling, torque management, throttle control, and thermal protection strategies, we were able to determine exactly where the factory and Race ECU calibrations could be improved.

The result is a powerful, refined calibration designed to perform consistently across varying operating temperatures and supported fuel qualities. Significant gains were achieved throughout the power curve, including both midrange and top-end improvements on 93 octane and VP Racing MR12.

ADVANTAGES WITH STAGE 1

• 7–14+HP gains from the midrange through the top end compared with baseline testing on a typical exhaust/filter-equipped motorcycle using 93 octane fuel. Even larger gains are possible with race fuel.
• Earlier cooling fan activation - the factory calibration begins reducing engine performance as temperatures increase. We command the cooling fans earlier, around 185°F, to help manage temperatures and reduce heat-related power loss. This also resolves engine shutdown at idle due to high temps.
• Individual-cylinder fueling optimization across part, mid, and full-throttle operation within the Alpha-N fueling strategy.
• Ignition timing optimization at partial throttle for improved performance across supported fuel qualities.
• M-Torque and torque-limiter adjustments to allow the engine to deliver more of its available torque under high load in every gear.
• Per-gear rev limiter optimization to provide the widest practical and safe usable powerband, addressing factory limitations found in both lower and upper gears.
• Improved idle stability and off-throttle behavior for smoother, more consistent operation.
• Full 100% throttle opening in supported riding modes by revising factory throttle limitations.
• Power gains throughout the RPM range with no intentional sacrifice in low, mid, or high-RPM performance.
• Performance-oriented adjustments to ABS, traction control, and wheelie-control strategies for improved power delivery and rider control.

​GEARING RECOMMENDATION: For riders looking for even stronger acceleration, we recommend either dropping one tooth on the front sprocket or adding two teeth to the rear sprocket.
