The Suzuki Hayabusa has always been a beast of a bike, and it's no surprise that it's left a mark on the superbike world. So, when we got our hands on the latest 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 3, you bet the expectations were sky-high. Also, previous iterations of the Hayabusa have seen modifications like people slapping on turbos to push insane power levels.
The 2022 model we tested is a hefty machine, tipping the scales at about 500 pounds, yet it's equipped with impressive specifications: 188 horsepower at 9700 rpm and 111 pound-feet of torque at 7000 rpm, this is at the crank. It also boasts a claimed top speed of 185 mph.
In our detailed review, we explored how the bike's performance was elevated by the BT Moto ECU Flash and Velocity Stacks. We also did a thorough analysis by comparing the Hayabusa’s capabilities before and after our modifications, which included dyno tuning and the installation of our custom velocity stacks.
So, let's get into the good stuff and see what this mean machine can really do!
Right off the bat, hopping on the 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 3, you'll notice how ridiculously comfortable it is. It cruises so smoothly, you might not even realize you're pushing 180 mph. But let’s be clear: in its stock form, this isn't your track day terror—it's built more for cruising in style. Yet, with its beefy 1300cc engine, one of the bigger ones on the block, it screams potential for more mods.
Out of the box, it's got a decent kick, but we were itching to crank it up a notch. One thing we did pick up on was the clutch feeling a little notchy and the front brakes a bit spongy. Other than that, it’s a dream on wheels, ripping through the roads with absolutely no fuss at all.
We also put it head-to-head with a Triumph Speed Triple in a friendly sprint. Our flashed Speed Triple 1200 took off like a shot, leaving the Hayabusa in the dust initially. But past 100 mph, the Hayabusa shifted gears, so to speak. It's wild how this bike starts to show its teeth as the speedometer climbs—smooth and steady, without even a hint you’re going that fast.
Then, we took the Hayabusa out on the freeway, its natural stomping grounds, to see it shine. Cruising at 100 mph felt more like 40 mph—that’s how effortless it handles speed. Throttle response was crisp and the ride was spectacularly drama-free. You could easily call it a magnificent cruiser.
Still, we were curious to see what our Velocity Stacks could do. They’re known for boosting power at the higher end without sacrificing the low-end grunt, so it seemed like a perfect match for this setup. So, it was time to take the 2022 Hayabusa Gen 3 to the dyno.
We were pretty confident that our Velocity Stacks would kick things up a notch on the Hayabusa, and sure enough, they delivered. Originally, the bike was pushing 175 wheel horsepower and 109 wheel torque in its stock form. After we applied the BT Moto Flash along with the stacks, we saw an uplift of 7 wheel horsepower.
You'd see in the dyno chart below, where the stock baseline is marked in red, and our BT Moto Flash shines in blue. Comparing peak to peak, the blue line showcases a boost of almost 10 wheel horsepower and maintains consistent power right up until about 6000 rpm. Moreover, the addition of the velocity stacks made sure that the bike wasn't just gaining power at the high end but was holding onto it lower down too. The stacks really made a difference, ensuring a smoother and more powerful ride across the board.
After the flash tuning and stack installation, we hit the road again to put the 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 3 through its paces. It took just a little warm-up before we really started to see the benefits. One of the first things we noticed was how the quickshifter had improved—it was snappier than ever, with zero lag, making gear changes smooth and lightning-fast. The throttle response was as phenomenal as it was pre-tuning, maintaining that crisp, engaging feel we loved.
Interestingly, the mid-range performance didn’t show a drastic change, which was within our expectations. We weren't necessarily looking for a mid-range boost but rather enhancements in overall efficiency and top-end power, which is where the Hayabusa really shines. Since the bike retained its original smoothness from its stock form, we were all set for the real test: measuring the performance boost in a 60 to 130 mph sprint.
Pre-tuning, the Hayabusa clocked this run at 4.84 seconds. Post-flash, with the BT Moto tuning in effect, we managed to shave off a solid 0.30 seconds, bringing it down to an impressive 4.54 seconds.
There you have it—the 2022 Hayabusa Gen 3, enhanced with a BT Moto Stage 1 flash and velocity stacks, managed to trim down the 60 to 130 mph sprint by 0.30 seconds. This improvement is quite significant considering we didn’t tweak anything else and all testing was conducted under consistent conditions. This clear, quantifiable improvement is solid proof that the BT Moto tuning and velocity stacks really do their job well.
We also observed a noticeable speed-up in the quickshifter performance, especially at higher revs. The extended rev limiter is another plus, broadening the power band and allowing the bike to stay in the sweet spot of its power curve longer. As for the mid-range, we'll keep it real—there wasn't a dramatic change, but the modifications weren't really targeted there.
Overall, with the BT Moto ECU flash and the addition of velocity stacks, you're essentially getting the same superb Hayabusa experience but with added perks: more power, a faster quickshifter, and no compromises. The stacks ensure that there’s no sacrifice in lower-range power; instead, they boost the performance where it counts.
